Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers, also known as dental veneers or dental porcelain laminates, are porcelain shells of variable thickness that are custom shaped for each individual patient. Porcelain veneers are meticulously affixed with a special, very resistant adhesive on the prepared anterior teeth. This method of aesthetic enhancement can completely transform your smile into one that you will be proud of for many years.

Porcelain is an extremely durable and the most adequate material for dental reconstruction that has similar properties to the enamel of natural teeth and is very resistant. It has a smooth and non-porous surface that is not susceptible to decay and resists staining while maintaining a natural appearance. Once veneers are permanently placed, they feel like a natural part of the teeth, and can be used in the same way as natural teeth.

Porcelain veneers are sought by many people who find it hard to smile due to chipped, stained, misaligned, misshapen or discolored teeth. Porcelain veneers can help patients with these problems to attain white, straight, and natural looking teeth. Moreover, with veneers there are instant results that will last for decades. Thus, they are very cost effective in their longevity and customization.

Most veneer procedures require at least two appointments to be completed, and the length of time necessary at each appointment will depend on the extent of the procedure. Veneers are minimally invasive and relatively pain-free restorations done in the dentist's office under local anesthetic.

The first appointment involves removing a small portion of the face and top edge of a tooth to achieve a proper preparation design so that the porcelain veneer can bond to the teeth better. An impression of your teeth is then taken, and is sent to the lab along with accompanying photos and models. The lab fabricates porcelain shells which fit onto your teeth perfectly. At a second appointment, your veneers are trial fitted and assessed for aesthetic and functional success before final cementation. If necessary, further shaping and trimming can be done before continuing. After this, the teeth are thoroughly cleaned, and then the veneers are permanently cemented onto your teeth using a composite resin. Be sure to leave plenty of time for your second appointment, since placing veneers is a meticulous and delicate procedure. If performed correctly, your smile will look so natural after this procedure with the prepared teeth and veneers, it will be almost impossible to identify it from your original teeth.

Stronger and longer lasting than composite resin restorations, porcelain veneers are truly the state-of-the-art procedure to restore and enhance aesthetic appeal of the smile.
