Orthodontics
Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry which deals with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of positional anomalies of the teeth and the jaws. These anomalies, also known as malocclusion, or bad bite, affect oral health and the physical, esthetic and mental well being of the person.
Orthodontic treatment involves the design and use of corrective appliances such as braces, plates, headgears and functional appliances, to bring the teeth and jaws into proper alignment, thus maintaining the oral, physical and mental health of patients as well maximizing their teeth's effectiveness and esthetics.
